This month in our Wit and Wisdom for Well-Being series: Choice! Good designers give choices that make you successful no matter what you choose. Let’s be honest, there are individuals making design decisions at organizations who don’t even make their own wardrobe decisions. So, it’s important that as we think about the choices we provide to our stakeholders, we give them the right variety and clear, concise, and consistent information to help them be successful in whatever choice they make.
People are more driven by a sense of purpose than we often assume. Think about those that work for non-profit organizations, those who donate time and resources to help others in need, even parents that sacrifice their own needs to ensure their children want for nothing. This sense of purpose is often what motivates people each day, what drives them to do their best work and keeps them engaged even when they could earn higher compensation elsewhere.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Health as “a state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity,” meaning that if a person is not “sick” it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are “healthy” or “well” because there’s always room for improvement.
The pandemic has served as a catalyst for a paradigm shift in how we work. The needs of the workforce today compared to those of employees before the pandemic are simply different. At Stok, we deeply care for our team members.
