ON REIMAGINING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT:
“Embodied carbon analysis should not be an additional study performed to meet sustainability metrics or certifications. My hope is that it will become the norm for real estate portfolio strategies and for all new construction projects and major tenant improvements. Knowing the environmental impact of our decisions in the real estate sector, I hope that by bringing embodied carbon to the forefront of design discussions we will build more sustainable cities where our buildings have a minimal carbon footprint. Stok’s goal is to demonstrate that by considering the whole lifecycle of our buildings, we have the potential to mitigate and even eliminate the harmful impacts the AEC industry has on our climate.”
ON A FUTURE THEY WANT TO LIVE IN:
“A future where buildings are a solution to climate change, not a threat. Where cities prioritize pedestrians and cyclists, giving them a fair share of the public space. Where there are diverse cities in every possible way. Where the most marginalized communities can access essential goods and services.”
