The Challenge

Originally engaged to manage LEED EBOM and WELL Health-Safety Rating certifications for key assets, Stok now functions as a comprehensive sustainability consultant for Rockhill, focused on improving the company’s GRESB score and overarching strategy development. Stok’s scope includes:

  • Co-developing Rockhill’s sustainability strategy, and aligning it with industry standards and frameworks
  • Facilitating Rockhill’s sustainability-focused meetings and enabling cross-functional collaboration aimed at achieving strategy objectives
  • Managing LEED v4.1 EBOM and WELL Health-Safety Rating building portfolio certifications
  • Creating a resiliency program aligned with TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) framework
  • Developing Rockhill’s first comprehensive GHG (greenhouse gas) Inventory
  • Supporting Rockhill’s reporting efforts, with an emphasis on transparency, accountability, and continued improvement

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION

Working from Rockhill’s existing sustainability foundation, Stok is focused on advancing the company’s sustainability initiatives with embedded strategic and technical support. Notably, Stok supports the sustainability program’s implementation, which includes managing building certifications across Rockhill’s portfolio and evaluating its sustainability goals to align with GRESB and other industry-leading frameworks. Stok also continues to provide support on technical items including assessments, implementing efficiency measures, and incorporating resiliency into the company’s portfolio strategy.

ENERGY STAR CONSULTING

In 2024, Rockhill was recognized as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for its energy management program – the highest level of EPA recognition. Stok’s program management support was instrumental in building Rockhill’s formal energy management program, which is aligned to ENERGY STAR best practices and formalized through Rockhill’s energy management policy. Additionally, Stok worked with Rockhill’s sustainability leaders to develop a comprehensive awareness campaign, including a friendly energy reduction competition, to socialize Rockhill’s current energy initiatives across the organization. The annual Property Playoffs are aimed at creating momentum to engage both employees and tenants, and to achieve reduction targets.

  • 439,182 kWh net savings achieved
  • $96,620 net savings

INTERNAL SUPPORT THROUGH TRUSTED AND EMBEDDED PARTNER

Stok serves as a resource for Rockhill’s internal teams through this complex process, providing guidance on how stakeholders can best collaborate for impactful outcomes. By translating the technical, Stok educates individuals throughout Rockhill’s team by aligning all stakeholders and engaging them in the company’s sustainability efforts. Through this trusted partnership, Stok has also taken on facilitating Rockhill’s Sustainability Committee meetings to drive the sustainability strategy with alignment across all key functions of the business.

Stok is currently guiding Rockhill’s sustainability strategy, advising GRESB improvement measures, and developing the company’s first ever resiliency program aligned with the TCFD framework, which will focus on climate risk and the transition to a low carbon economy.
